Internal leakage fault of the plate heat exchanger

The plate heat exchanger is widely used in industrial applications. Today, we will discuss how to judge and deal with the most common internal leakage fault of the plate heat exchanger and daily preventive measures. 

First, the user can identify the leaking unit by opening the pore and detecting the temperature of the medium at different locations.  


After the leaking unit is identified, the user needs to examine the specific location of the leak. Air compressors are usually used to check for leaks. Before operating the air compressor, the channel connecting the plate heat exchanger with external air and the fluid transmission pipeline should be closed. Next, open the side valve, group the valves, and add refrigeration and air drying systems. And then, open the air compressor, and a certain pressure needs to be applied to press the dried air into the leakage comparison unit. Multiple pressure tests can determine the position of internal leakage. After confirming the specific leakage part of the unit, a user also needs to find out whether there is leakage in the pipeline part, which is helpful to seal the leakage and ensure the sealing of the whole plate heat exchanger. 


Next is the maintenance and treatment of the plate heat exchanger. After finding the specific location of the fault, start to deal with it, and pay attention to the allowance for maintenance. Considering that the treatment can't impact the use of equipment, standard welding methods are used for welding the leakage point and sealing the leak. After welding is completed, engineer should recheck the quality of welding. The air compressor should be pressed to observe whether there is fluid overflow. After confirming, restore the sealing state of each opened in front. 


Users can also take some measures to prevent the occurrence of faults, and specific prevention measures are as follows: 

1. Install the automatic alarm system with some special fluid. Then, when the fluid leaks, it can be detected, and the alarm will automatically alarm so that the maintenance personnel can find the fault in time, and it also can make it easy to narrow the fault location. 


2. Strengthen the operation level of equipment operators to prevent the failure caused by misoperation. 


3. Many heat exchangers running time is too long, and the components have been aging, leading to the failure. So the most direct and effective way is to replace the old heat exchanger to reduce the maintenance costs.
