What is the Difference Between the Plate Heat Exchanger and Heat Pump Heat Exchanger?

19 Mar 2020

A plate heat exchanger is a kind of heat exchanger made of thin metal plate pressed into a heat exchange plate with a certain corrugated shape, then stacked and fastened with splints and bolts.

Differences between the plate heat exchanger and heat pump heat exchanger:

1. Compared with heat pump heat exchanger, the plate heat exchanger has a smaller volume and less floor area.

Plate heat exchanger covers about 30% of the heat pump heat exchanger with the same heat exchange capacity.

2. The plate heat exchanger has higher heat transfer efficiency.

The plate heat exchanger can make two kinds of heat exchange fluid at a low flow rate, enhance disturbance, stir up turbulence, and enhance heat transfer. The heat pump heat exchanger is much lower.

3. Plate heat exchanger assembly is more flexible than heat pump heat exchanger.

When the process conditions and output are required to be changed in production, the plate head exchange can meet the requirements only by increasing or decreasing the number of plates or changing the channel form of the plate assembly process.

4. The heat loss of plate heat exchanger is smaller than that of heat pump exchanger.

The plate heat exchanger is only exposed to the atmosphere around the plate, so the heat loss is only about 1%, so no insulation layer is needed. The heat exchanger of the heat pump needs an insulation layer.

5. The consumption of plate heat exchanger metal is lower than that of heat pump heat exchanger.

The plate heat exchanger is mainly composed of stainless steel or titanium alloy pressed heat transfer sheet, sealant pad, clamping bolt and the whole frame of pressing plate. The heat exchanger of the heat pump also needs another metal assembly.
