The NB/T 11748-2024 "Plate Air Cooler" industry standard, co-drafted by Shanghai Accessen, has been officially released. Approved by the National Energy Administration and administered by the Heat Exchanger Subcommittee of the China Standardization Committee for Boilers and Pressure Vessels, this inaugural standard will take effect on June 25, 2025. It establishes comprehensive specifications for the entire lifecycle of plate air cooler manufacturing and inspection, marking a critical milestone for industry standardization.
As a high-efficiency heat exchange device for steam/water and gas/gas applications, plate air coolers integrate features of plate heat exchangers and air-cooled exchangers. They transfer heat through direct/indirect air-to-fluid contact, excelling in high-temperature and heat recovery applications. Utilizing fully-welded plate bundles as thermal transfer units, these systems offer compact design, superior heat transfer efficiency, and low pressure drop—delivering critical performance in heat recovery from flue gases across refining, chemical, power, and metallurgical industries.
Rising market demand and expanding applications necessitate unified industry standards. Led by the Heat Exchanger Subcommittee, the standard was developed with participation from China Special Equipment Inspection Institute, Sinopec, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Chengda Engineering, PetroChina, and Harbin Air Conditioning. Leveraging over two decades of expertise in plate air preheater R&D and manufacturing, Shanghai Accessen contributed pivotal technical insights to the drafting process. As a veteran participant in national standard formulation, Accessen provided critical technical validation through its portfolio: plate heat exchangers, A-BLOC four-side accessible welded exchangers, and AWK fully-welded air heat exchangers.
The NB/T 11748-2024 standard specifies: Design pressure limit: ≤4.0 MPa, Temperature range: Material-dependent. It governs the entire equipment lifecycle through rigorous requirements for:
